VPS

Guide · Updated October 2026 · ~5 min read

VPS is a budget server on capacity we have free at the moment. It is a separate product with its own section in the panel, Virtual Private Servers. It is not part of the cloud and does not share its features. For a server you build a project on, take a cloud virtual machine.

A limited offer

VPS runs on spare capacity, so there is only as much of it as we have free. Each plan in the create wizard shows In stock, Few left or Out of stock. When a plan is out of stock, check back later.

We may stop taking new VPS orders at any time. Servers that already run keep running.

Every plan has a 1 Gbit/s port, disk up to 250 MB/s and 10,000 IOPS, a public IPv4 address and an IPv6 /56. After the monthly traffic quota the port slows to 100 Mbit/s.

The CPU ceiling is how much CPU time the server may use in total, spread over its vCPUs.

Outgoing port 25 is closed, as on every new server. Mail goes through a mail service.

Create a VPS

Open Virtual Private Servers and press Create VPS. Choose a plan, a hostname and an SSH key or a password. The server is ready in about a minute.

Creating a VPS needs a balance that covers one month of the plan.

On the server page you have start, stop and reboot, a VNC console, reverse DNS for the address, CPU, memory, disk and network graphs, and reinstall with a fresh disk and the same addresses.

Billing

A VPS is billed by the hour, the first hour when it is created. A stopped VPS is billed the same as a running one, the capacity stays reserved for it.

When the balance runs out, the VPS is stopped and marked unpaid. To start it again, top up enough for 24 hours of the plan.

Backups

Weekly backups run on Sunday night and the last 4 are kept, stored off the server. They cost 20% of the plan price. Turn them on and off on the server page, make a backup now or restore one there too.

Bigger plan

A VPS can move to a bigger plan on its page. The server restarts to pick it up. The disk grows and cannot shrink, so there is no way back to a smaller plan.

Limits

How many VPS an account can have and how large one can be depends on the account level.
